What is Partner Insurance?

We provide Personal Insurance for business owners and partners to allow them to cover the risks associated with the death or incapacity of either partners or key people, and the associated risks this has on business profitability.

While this may seem a simple process, the pitfalls of not having the process properly documented can have catastrophic results, including excess amounts of FBT, CGT and other taxes applicable to either the business or the intended recipient. We recommend that a properly drafted agreement is put in place. These are commonly referred to as Buy Sell agreements.

A Buy Sell Agreement

The purpose of a Buy Sell Agreement is to ensure that:

• you sell your Equity in the Business for the full, pre-agreed value;
• you are released from any Personal Guarantees with respect to Business Debt;
• any Loan Accounts between the Business and the Proprietor are repaid;
• and there is scope or provision for future growth in the value of your Equity in the Business.

Asset and Liability Strategies

A Buy Sell Agreement does not just focus on your Asset. It looks at your Liabilities as well. In other words, it helps you to leave both the Asset and the Liability sides of the ledger.
